Keeping your new hardwood fresh and clean
Even in an active household, proper care and maintenance will help you keep your hardwood flooring pristine! There are many preventative measures that you can take the reduce the amount of wear that your floors will experience:
- Place area rugs to protect your floors and use quality area rug pads under your rugs to prevent slippage and cushion foot traffic.
- Encourage guests and residents to scrape footwear before entering the home.
- Encourage guests and residents to remove footwear by entrances.
- Keep all pets groomed to reduce the amount of dander in the home.
- Keep all pet nails trimmed to reduce scratches to the wood surface.

Dirt & Debris
Sweep your hardwood floors with a gentle bristle broom or dust mop as regularly as possible to effectively remove dirt and debris before they become abrasive to the surface. Make sure to review your manufacturer's warranty before investing in a robot vacuum cleaner for hardwood floors.

Spills & Stains
Wipe up spills as soon as possible with a clean cloth, paper towels, and a gentle hardwood-specific cleaner. Before using a wet-mop or Swiffer WetJet system, review your manufacturer’s guidelines, use as little liquid as needed, and ensure the wood surface dries in a reasonable amount of time.
