Before your new carpet
is installed
Getting ready for your new carpet installation will help ensure an efficient process and incredible results:
- Remove all furniture, electronics, items, and wall pieces from the room and closets.
- Carpet can’t be installed over an existing floor so your current flooring must be removed and disposed of.
- Repair any imperfections to the subfloor to ensure a completely smooth surface.
- Once your subfloor is professionally assessed, you are cleared for installation.

During Installation
On carpet installation day, an adult needs to be home to answer any questions that arise for your installation crew. Designate a specific area for the crew to keep installation tools and cut carpet as needed. Keep all pets and kids away from the rooms receiving new carpet and worker’s area.

After Installation
Once your new carpet installation is complete, it’s extremely important to wait for the specified amount of time before walking on the carpet. When you are cleared to return furniture to the room, always lift or use equipment with rollers, and consider using felt pads under the legs of heavy pieces.
