Hardwood Installation

Before your new hardwood
is installed

Getting ready for your new hardwood installation will help ensure an efficient process and incredible results:

  • Remove all furniture, electronics, items, and wall pieces from the room and closets.
  • Hardwood flooring can’t be installed over an existing floor so your current flooring must be removed and disposed of.
  • Repair any imperfections to the subfloor to ensure a completely smooth surface.
  • Once your subfloor is professionally assessed, you are cleared for installation.
  • Bring hardwood planks into the room to acclimate for at least 48 hours beforehand.

During Installation

On hardwood installation day, an adult needs to be home to answer any questions that arise for your installation crew. Designate a specific area for the crew to keep installation tools and saw planks as needed. Keep all pets and kids away from the rooms receiving new hardwood and the worker’s area.

After Installation

Once your new hardwood installation is complete, it’s extremely important to wait for the specified amount of time before walking on the new floor. When you are cleared to return furniture to the room, always lift or use equipment with rollers, and consider using felt pads under the legs of heavy pieces.
